Hello peeps,

I've got 2 pedals I love that I wish were True Bypass...

Yamaha OD-10Mii

Washburn A-D9

How hard would it be to put a true bypass in one of these? I'm still quite the amateur builder, this seems to be way over my head but figured I'd ask...

deadastronaut

why do you wish they were true bypass?.

just curious.

I like true bypass pedals. with these two in my chain I experience some loss of volume. It's subtle but it's there.

Maybe, but the bypass signal after those pedals is ... buffered.

It wouldn't be easy to put a 3pdt footswitch in there, and as it's a collectors item I wouldn't recommend that anyway.
If you have a schematic, it should be easy to use the existing momentary switch for a relay bypass - if you know what you're doing.

I don't think it's worth it.

Maybe building a clone and selling the original would be easier.

Maybe fixing the volume loss would be easier? Depends on the circuit, obviously, but you never know...

I've read varying opinions on buffering, but I think these pedals cause a slight tone/volume loss...

I did a crazy thing and sent the pedals to Analogman Mike to have true bypassed ;D
