LM386 can alternative

So I've been getting into more turret board builds and found a circuit I'd like to do that requires a LM386.  Is there a can alternative I can use?  I tried to find a LM386 can but they don't seem to exist.

If there is one, how can I find something like this out without asking?

LM386 was made to be CHEEP. They were tired of making hundreds of costly cans, wanted to break into million-selling jellybeans. Neither '386 nor dad '380 was ever offered canned.

You might want to consider a small piece of vero as a daughterboard, like this:

And given the increased amount of heat you need to solder to turrets, you might otherwise cook a chip that's connected directly.

I had the same thought as Marc (daughterboard), although I hesitated to say it because it seems to me that there is an aesthetic involved in building stompboxes on turret board, and DIP chips just don't ... fit. But what are you gonna do? Maybe it's some comfort that DIPs, too, are going the way of the can, and the dinosaur.

or disguise/hide your DIPs as/inside of cans ;)

I should have glued a tiny piece of shiny foil on top of the chip.   ;D
