Power amp stage of Fender Champ XD/X2 = Princeton core?

Hi guys.

Just had a look at the schematic of the Champ X2.
The all tube output stage looks like the cathodyne output stage of a Princeton Reverb.
I wonder how much of the main clean tone comes from this section, given the fact (triode) tube input stages rarely really add tonal flavour since they operate in their linear region.
