hold mod for Boss DF2 feedbacker?

in this pedal, when you keep the stomp switch pressed, you'll get a note as feedback.
Looking at the schematics, looks like there is a fundamental note extractor (like the Boss OC2), then a VCO, an envelope generator triggered by the switch, some filtering, and even an LFO that modulates the note extracted.
I'm wondering if there is a way to hold the note that gets feedbacked when you press the pedal, so that you can remove the foot and keep playing, without the pedal having to keep tracking, but instead sustaining the last note "sampled".
and then if you push the switch again, you sample another note.
I don't know how the 4046 works, looking at the schematic, there is a point where the LFO output voltage is feed into the "VCO in" pin of the 4046, passively mixed with another signal (probably a voltage corresponding to the extracted note?). If that is true, I could sample the voltage on "PC out" pin and hold this voltage.
Do you think it can be done?

This seems awful familiar. Like someone answered it a year back.
