loop master w/LED problem. dumbfounded.

So here is what is going on.

i need a pot in a box for the loop on my splawn, so i wired this up, but....



it isn't working in the loop. i have tried 500k and 25k pots. neither work in the loop, but either pot acts like a volume pot when out front of a rig just like a guitar volume. the LED works fine out front, the pot acts predictably out front but not in the loop.

i realize that this is far from clean work, (or my best tbh) but it isn't working. i am open to any/all suggestions. all i want is to be able to have the volume in the loop and know what it is on.

i figured out that i needed to ground pin one on the pot to the body of the pot and all is good.
