the opamp will shove that voltage about quite a bit in normal operation. you're better off keeping all the jumping about away from the audio.

so how bout changing the VB from 100k-100k to 1M-1M? would that make it *suitable* enough to ditch the extra voltage divider?

no. the opamp oscillator will make any divider you can put jump about the reference, that's how the osc works.
