Would you pay $5 for a 30 minute Zoom session on SpinCAD?

For anyone that has wanted to get into writing their own FV-1 effects but has been too intimidated to get started, the session from today (when the video gets put up) will 100% help you get over that.

Thanks again for your time Larry! :)

Hi Nathan,

Glad you were able to attend.  At the moment we have some technical difficulties with the video.
#1 OBS Studio only recorded part of the screen, so most of what I was doing in SpinCAD got cut off.
#2 Vegas Video can't open the mkv files created by OBA Studio.

It's always something!   :'(

AFAIK, you can do recordings straight in zoom, like it records all the talking, screen sharing, etc.. after the meeting you just save the recording on your computer in an mp4 file...

Maybe when I get into fv1 i'll give this a shot (still struggling with some pedal basics, lol)  :icon_lol:

Sounds like you'll have to do another one to get the recording ;)

I use OBS and Vegas as well and got the same issue first time I tried. You can convert the mkv to mp4 directly in OBS from the File menu.

Ah thanks, this is under OBS Tools-Remux.  Worked fine.  It's salvageable I think.

Not to get anyone's hopes up, but the 1 TB M.2 drive I HAD in my system spontaneously toasted itself yesterday morning, with the video bits on it.  It's a goner.  I lost a lot of stuff.  Going forward I am just going to use my 128 GB SSD and back things up to the LAN RAID more often.

If people are interested I could do another one of these.  It would be better organized and then I wouldn't have to spend as much time editing the video.  Just send me a DM and if I can get more than 2 people to commit to a time some weekend, I'd be willing to do it.

I had a good time, I'd totally be down to do it again :)

Hey Larry,

I'd definitely be up for it. Even if not live I'd find it useful to see a video you recorded in advance. Either way, count me in.
Great idea!

That's very kind of you.  I think the bang for the buck is in me just doing one here by myself and then assembling it.  I also have to convince myself not to say "uh, y'know" every five words LOL.  Doing it live gave me an idea of what needed to be covered for beginners, but it was pretty disorganized.   ;D

Hi Larry,

I'm a total n00b to the FV-1. Built a few things in the analogue world (mostly speaker design but also a x0xb0x) and have a sound engineer background. After some reading I've decided to dive into the FV-1. My devboard arrived today - been playing around with SpinCAD today, seems like a wonderful entry to the chip. If you're interested in doing another SpinCAD session I'd be very keen to get involved. Happy to cop the fiver on entry but I should let you know I'm in Australia, hope AUD suits ;)

Look forward to hearing from you.

Try these for starters.  I did one of them 5 years ago and another guy was kind enough to make a short demo as well.  I will probably try to build on the first one I did (it just shows starting with a bypass, but you gotta start somewhere).

Thanks Larry, actually been through both of those - before the devboard arrived, in fact. Appreciate the response though. I'm onto experimenting with some delay and modulation stuff. Also unpacking some of the patches found over at the Spin Semi page :)

Cheers!
