Detune vs Chorus

well since EVH passes  been wanting to get the balance tone so I can play seventh seal

will a chorus work or will i need a detune to get that effect?  they say the moor pitch shifter middle switch detune to -98 is EVH in a box ...but they also say vh1 is a phase 90 in a box lol
