Crate solid state amp Brown sound distortion pedal

Hello,

I am making a pedal version of the distortion circuit of a Crate GFX amp. I found a schematic, and started a vero board layout. I have a couple of questions.

I created a vero board up to to the level control (P6), do I need to go any further per the schematic?

What do the J175, and J112 JFETS do in this circuit? I am thinking they are switches?

I did not add the Gain 1 components that are shown above IC2, do you think they are needed? How would these be wired in with those J175?
