Looking for a substitution for the 2SK170 for this mic boost.

Thanks.
Now where to buy the 2SK117?
The LS are $$$$

What are the chances these are legit
or on ebay?

^ are you up for using an SMD equivalent?

from someone named Dylan W at GroupDIY:

QuoteToshiba 2SK880 is the same as the 2SK209, in slightly smaller SC-70 package.

Both are the same part as the 2SK117, which is itself similar to 2SK170. (Not quite as low-noise as the 170, but less capacitance, which is good for condenser mic use.)

Check the datasheets, maybe he's right.

I may use SMD parts since they are much
more available and much cheaper.
