I replaced the tantalums with electrolytics but perhaps I should not have done?

*Slightly* better to keep the tantalums.  The tantalums tend to last longer and they are desirable in a few positions (but modern electros are usually OK in those positions).

If you look at the schematic from here,

The 10uF cap in parallel with the 220uF cap at the top left should *not* be tantalum.   When I look at the PCB pics it looks like that cap is an electro so maybe the designer used tantalums everywhere except that position.
