I'm thinking here. caps charge to their rated voltage, right? So does a 63V cap really charge up to 63V? or can't it go past 9 volts?

I just got scared when I saw the cap reading 63V...   Am I in mortal danger?
I don't like Holland. Nobody has the transistors I want.

I believe it can only be charged with what you put into it!  If you put 9volts into it, you get 9volts out of it!  You can't put more than 63 volts into it safely.

Arn's right, the 63V is the rating for the maximum voltage the cap should be used with.  A better way to rephrase what you said is "caps CAN charge to their rated voltage."  If you're using a 9v power source for a pedal, that's the max that any caps in the circuit can store in that particular circuit.  . So you can now stop living in fear.
