As an alternative to Charlie's mod to add a switch and several caps to the 4047 to modify the clock speed, I installed a fixed 250pf cap and replaced the 39k resistor between the lfo and the diode on the 4047 with a 100k linear pot in series with a (4.7k - I think, experiment) fixed resistor.

This mod allows smooth and continuous changes in the delay time.  I can go from flanger approved really short delays up to almost slap back territory. - slap back delay is really not suited for this pedal however, as the filtering section is not steep enough to remove the clock when the delay time gets too high.   Also, even though the delay can be lowered into flanger range, don't expect a truly inspiring flange sound.  I think of it more as different shades of "chorus".

At any rate, I did this mod because I felt like my version did not have enough depth.  It was too subtle.  What I learned thru a lot of experimentation and reivew was that I installed a 100pf cap instead of 150.  That shortened my delay time too much.

Simply adding this fixed resistor+pot let me expand the "depth" to taste, and the pedal went from sort of a disappointment to a really usable build.  I had so much control that I bumped up the cap on the 4047 to 250 pf and got some great sounds.

At 330pf and the delay time maxed via the 100k pot, I was definately in slapback range, but like I said, the clock became audible.

good luck

Having tinkered around with the '4558' op-amp (i ended up getting a TLO82, due to availabiltiy) i sometimes get a 'half-loud' and then a 'fully-loud' signal coming out, which makes me think i've maybe got a bad chip socket or its not soldered in well, but the meter reads the joints ok.

I couldn't get the defined transistors either, so i had to subst 2N5087 with BC179 and the two 2N5088 with BC169C.  hmm maybe i should check the pinout on those again .
