Hi
I bought a DMM that can measure hfe....so that got me thinking (wich is ok sometimes)

Can a transistor be replaced with ANY other of the same type (NPN) with similar hfe?

I know a local reseller that carries lot's of unkown parts. All the info I can get from them is the type of transistor, and some thech data, like de hfe, but no part number

Thanks!

Most all these NPN's are subbable...hfe sometimes matters, biasing might...My exp is that most of the time you can put anything Si npn in there [I don't know which ckt we're refferring to]  and it'll do something...no harm in trying AFAIK as long as the pinout is correct.
