220V --> 117V (???)

I am getting a Soldano Supercharger and because it's from the states and I'm not I'll have to use a step down adaptor for it. I must admit that I am sick of using these devices because they are heavy and pretty expensive (I needed a 1.5 amp 220v ->115v for my dremel = $55).
I am wondering if any thinks I should dare mod the supercharger so it will run on 220v. How hard can it be? Is it simply changing a transformer?

i would contact soldano and ask him what the specs are on it and see if it can handle the voltage.  he is really nice and informative.

I believe they make a 230v version, see www.audiotubetech.com/c38.html  for example.
If you are REALLY lucky, there may be a rewireable transformer inside.
