Suggestion for Beginners projects

I think it would be very helpful not only to show the beginner how to physically put the parts into place, but also why they are there. I would love to understand the NPN boost. Why the circuit is designed the way it is. What each thing does etc. I know there are enough gurus out there to guide us through a discussion like this.

Anyway, just a thought.

The theory behind the NPN Boost is not really a beginner thing. However, you can write to Gus Smalley, or even better, search the archives because we've talked about this circuit before in depth.
