Modded Jack Orman Buffer Problem

Hey guys, I was wondering if you could help me with a little problem I'm having with a modded Jack Orman buffer design located at

I made a circuitboard for this and everything works, however the tone is sucked from the signal and is distorted...

Flipping the IC fixes the distortion to an extent, it only distorts then when the strings are hit hard however the tone is still not there....

Any help will be appreciated...
