Unfortunately I have no ruler that will measure that :)

Well, you'd have to be pretty small...

Colin, it sounds like it's time for a micrometer for you. :) I have one on the bench at all times.

This is the style I have:

There is a second style that is more popular, but they're a pain for the sorts of measurements we tend to do around here.

This place shows both styles with digital display:

After you use one for a little, you can easily eyeball 0.005" changes.

Take care,

Pete-Right, there are some at my school, but are electronic component leads less than .03"?

Here are a couple random measurements from parts I have sitting out....

Legs of a TO-92 = 0.014"
Legs of a TO-5 = 0.017"
Legs of a 1/4 watt resistor = 0.021"
Legs of a 1N4007 = 0.031" (!)
#30 wire wrap wire with insulation = 0.020"

Thanks Pete.  I won't be using any diodes so I THINK I'll be OK.
