I used to do that with my friend online all the time.  AIM used to have a "Talk" feature which would basically allow you to talk as though you were on the phone.  I'd just plug my guitar into my computer's audio in.

I think you can do that with a Line 6 Guitar Port.

ahh but i am talking about having.

1.  talking while playing.  done through phase invertion,
2.a buffered guitar input and microphone input plus you have the option to run completely clean preamp that is in the unit or you can add in a nice crunchy od.  so you can put pedals before it or after it.  plus i am canabilzing a version of the sansamp gt2 speaker sim to put in there.  and not only that. it is usb powered
