Hi,
I am a prog rock/power metal fan. My favorite bands are Dream Theater, Symphony X, Adagio, Blind Guardian... you get the picture :)...
I was thinking before a while of a stompbox to boost my leads (as well lower my sound card's input noise), and considering I was into Yngwie back then...
You guessed it - an OD250. I modded it though. 8)

I FINALLY made it to a cool mood and transferred it from the breadboard to a prefboard.

So have a question about painting the stomp box.
How do you make labels and graphics? I was thinking of drilling, then painting the whole thing in satin black, foiling it all up with adhesive paper tape, cutting out the parts I want in different color and spraying it in silver. And of course remove the adhesive paper tape.

Should I finish it with polyutherane as well?

Oh and BTW, which do you think is cooler - Zakk Wylde bullseye or Schenker style graphic?

Well, the latest hot thing around here is a dark T-shirt transfer fro graphics 8) So you paint the sides in the base colour and for the top you use the iron-on transfer.
I don't like Holland. Nobody has the transistors I want.

Welcome Zax, :D

There is a DIY site around here somewhere (sorry I don't remember exactly where) that shows how to use a slice of cheese as a template for adding a second color. Whatever works.

I would suggest adding the clear coating to make the design last longer, but it depends on how well your paint sticks in the first place. You may not really need it.

One important thing about painting on top of paint is that many paints will require you to add the additional coats before the base coat is totally dry. That allows the paints to bond with each other strongly. With some paints, I have seen cautions saying that you must add additional coats within xxxx amount of time, OR AFTER xxxx amount of time to get a good bond.

If you can't decide which graphic you like better, choose one and make another pedal for the other!

Best of luck and take care! I hope you can post some pictures when you are done.

Welcome to the forum. I would like to point out that we do have a large inventory of comments on this subject in our forum archieves on painting tech. and also on graphics design too. I think that you may find a lot of answers there, and if you don't. I know that any of us are more than welcome to help you with those answers.

Zakk Wylde. But do the one with all the smashed and rusty beer bottle caps on it. That would be different.

Listen to cKy!

I guess I'll do the bullseye. I don't have such a variety of beer caps availbable, though :) So i'll have to go with silver/black.

Its name will be "Oogah/Boogah Mark I".  8)

P.S. - I'll have to test-drive the adhesive paper thing today - finally got an aluminium box, not to mention the back of the stomp seems like a good place for experimentation :) ...
