Anybody using AMZ's Triple Bypass?

I built one and it flashes bright for a about 1/4 of a second and then is much dimmer; it's using all 2n3904's.
Is there something I should look for or is this common?

I use to use it when the 3PDT's were a little bit hard to come by, but it always worked as expected. No surging problems.

I used, and use, this in preference to RGs bypass thing, just because I always have 2N3904s around. It's always worked excellently!
