From what frequency could your consider a sign high??

I'm asking this because i'm designing a crossover and i need to know what frequency shloud i use for the low pass and high pass filters.

Another question, audio range goes from 20Hz to 20kHz, so, does it matters if the low pass filter let pass frequencies below 20Hz?? and the high pass qfrequencies beyond 20kHz??

Thanks very much!!!

You haven't said what you are using the crossover for: speakers or as a band splitter for something

Being a speaker designer I can tell you there's no proper or standard crossover frequencies.  The choice of crossover depends on the drivers.  The main two reasons choice of crossover frequency is for best overall sound and  to minimize driver stress.  Having the low-pass too high means the low-frequency speaker is outputing trying to output too high frequencies a region where it is not optimized for.  Having the high-pass too low means you could be outputting too much power to the tweeter or possible operating too close to it's resonance - which has a number of ramifications.  A simple two band system would be in the 2k to 4kHz range.  This is a big subject and cannot be summarized completely in a paragraph.

If you are trying to band split for guitar use then the crossover would be quite low say in the 100 to 1kHz region, more typical would be 200 to 400Hz.  At the end of the day the choice is totally subjective and upto to you.  Note the context of "high" for a guitar and for hi-fi is somewhat different!
