Hi

i recently got me a big muff usa, the new version with true bypass. it has a mini-jack for dc-power. anyone here know which side is + and which one's -?

can i just power it off a boss psa (european) with the right converter plug?

i would try this myself, but after reading a couple of stories on here about people blowing up their pedals after inserting the batteries the wrong way around... i thought i'd maybe ask first and shoot later.

also, would the power-supply be the same for a holy grail? i'm having one sent over to me as we type, so i don't know the specs yet, but it's usa as well, so i figure it's similar to the muff.

and as for my shot in the dark: does this have anything to do with NPN and PNP? not that i know what i'm talking about.

thanks!

If you have one of these, it should be simple task to find the ground pin of the jack...black lead to the sleeve of output cable, red to the DC jack pins, with DMM set to beep mode, one should beep, the other would be hot.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

yes, i think i'll be able to determine positive and negative sides of the power jack with my multimeter, though it doesn't have beep mode. thanks so far!

where i said NPN and PNP before, i actualy meant: negative or positive ground.

my question is: can i ruin my pedal when i try to make it work off the boss psa adapter i have? it's a psa-230p, which outs 9VDC on 200mA with a negative tip and positive sleeve.
