hello, about how many dB's of boost does the NPN boost have? i want to build a clean boost pedal to give me a boost for lead work. will this pedal give me enough of a clean boost?

I can vouch for the clean boost.  I've posted a link to a tune I recorded to demonstrate what it sounds like through my recording rig.

To recap that (sorry for the repost guys), I played 3 clean tracks and one dirty, all using the gain circuit.  I did have a dinky 3300 pF input cap and that rolled off a lot of the low end.  It was an added bonus really because it kept the low frequencies in the mix from getting too muddy.

Here's the link to the tune again in case you want to hear it...

As for the gain, we should be able to use a simple equation.  Totally going out on a limb here and trusting someone will tell me I'm wrong.

Gain = Rc / Re = 100k / 10k = 10

for dB now we plug that into, if memory serves...

dB = 20 Log (Gain) = 20

Cool beans.  Hope that's close to right, and hope that helps.  :D

<edit> used a much more simple method to get gain.
