Having trouble with this

I have tried building this circuit based on a 'fuzz face' and cannot seem to get anything out of it when its not in its bypass mode. All i have changed from the circuit shown is the transistors (changed to BC182L NPN transistors) and the drive pot to a 47k linear pot. Is the circuit design ok or is there likely something wrong with the way i've built my circuit??

BC182 and 2n5088 have differnt pinouts. bc182 is CBE and 5088 is EBC.
According to the layout, BCs transistors should be reversed.
