This was from another forum, but I thought people here would be interested.

Scroll down the page a bit and check out the stomp boxes on the left-hand side.

Looks like some fun (and cheap) fodder for mods. MSRPs appear to be $30 - $40, so street price is probably even cheaper.

thats plain old disgusting. who would defile the small stone like that?!?!?

the_badcliff

what are these? "concept pedals"?  Can't they just take a photo instead of computer generating pictures of them.

Are they trying to make me believe their pedals don't REALLY exist?

sir_modulus

Those are NAMM concepts...though don't get too excited. I'm sure EH and boss would be pouncing on Begringer's sorry arse if they decided to actually market these things....it's like PLAIN copyright!

Cheers,

Nish

P.S. I know some of you may ask this: How would it be wrong if they did it, but not if we did? Well in answer, it is wrong either way...that's why I encourage custom enclousures, and mods etc... to circuits, and to not copy the look of the original, and besides, EH won't punce on me if I make a Small stone clone that looks identical to the real one...they'll have to find out first...

Paul Perry (Frostwave)

Don't forget what Berhinger did to Mackie.. went to their Chinese contract parts manufacturer & negotiated lower prices!!
unfortunately Behringer won the law suit that resulted. Maybe they will go down for tax avoidance one day.

Hailstorm350

Behringer is gay...

except for euroracks
Now, don't you start that again!

puretube

tnx for the info, mrsage!

the boss will not be amused...

however, from a law standpoint, I doubt if that is a copyright issue...

a design imitation, yes - it does remind of the "vintage" role models.

Behringer have "ALWAYS" done this, I remember the "Mackie" clones too
problem was they used to break down ALL the time !!!.
Come on boys at least design a new "Box" even if the "guts" are the same !!!!
Bad Kharma on them . . . . .******

seems like they wanna become the new (sub-) standard,

thus turning B*ss, E-H, you name`em all, into  boutique status.

You`re sure those are retail (= end-) prices?

they do take profit from the "familiar" look,
which *can* be misleading, esp. for newbs/youngsters... (no offense!).

If they don`t have agreements whatsoever with the manufacturers of the rolemodels for those pedals, it`s shameless and very unethical, to say the least...[/i]

QuoteYou`re sure those are retail (= end-) prices?

I got them directly from the Beringer Price list....

Especially the Boss style pedals have an unbelievable price....

This one looks "orginal" (at least it's not a DIRECT copy)

That would make it a copy of the Digitech Hot Rod distorion, pretty much. I think that one does a DS-1, Rat and a Fuzz Face though. And they're not brazen enough to actually print on the face that it is a "DS-1, Rat and Distortion +"

WOW !
How can they make a "Boss" style pedal and sell it for £15   !!  ??

Unethical-- YES
Unbelievable  -- YES

How can this people be so lame?

I dont understand this kind of marketting, I thought it was important to differenciate (is that the word?) from other products...

I like behringer for the simple reason that they produce cheap and cheerfull gear that does work.

I've got one of the mixers that happens to be (very similar) to a mackie one.  worked fine for the 4 years i've had it.

apparently thier pod-u like stuff is also quite good.

However, I my own opinion,  they were basically lucky with the Mackie case.  I believe that mackie didn't have the design registered in the EU, and coudn't rely on EU design-right becasue they were american and so fell between the two provisions.   I may have remembered this wrong though.

IF  those pictures of the pedals are correct,  then I would expect BOSS/ROLAND  at least consider suing. Not sure if EH, or whoever might own them has enough cash to sue.

Behringer are open to an accusation of passing-off or at least misapropriating the goodwill by using very similar case designs and graphics getups.  I'm not sure that the behringer logo would be enough to avoid this.

i wonder if kleenex could sue puff's facial tissue for looking the same?  :D

If the quality is good, we'll see. Not that I NEED any of the pedals shown, but I would love a couple of extra digital delays for cheap.

I would be a hypocrite if complained about Behringer's new 'lineup' and yet still seriously consider an Agile or Tokai LP copy for next to nothing.
Yes, the cosmetics are blatantly copying the original. I smell a legal massaging (not a court battle) coming on.
