I just bought some magnetic connectors from Maplins and they're really good!  I'm going to use them for connecting a couple of boards together - stand offs AND wires all in one package!  They're not cheap (just over a couple of quid for 10), but they're an elegant solution to all sorts of problems.

The order code is N51AK

I also bought a 'Servo Plug Pack' (order code GZ94) which has three connecters in it.  Although not designed for the purpose, they fit over the pins of 16mm Alpha pots.  They'd have to be soldered, but using them is going to make life a lot easier for connecting wires to PCB mount pots.  Again, they're not cheap.
