I am a  huge newbie, and I’ve gotten  a lot of help from people around here, many pointing me in the right direction.  So I wanted to kind of compile all of the resources I’ve used thus far and try and make it easier for some people who were like me.  I’ll try to continue and amend this list as I remember the different resources I used, and will use.  I in no claim any rights to any of these works, I have merely compiled the list.  They are all copyright of their respectful authors.  Good luck.

This is a great place to learn how to design a class a amplifier, all of the information can easily be applied to pedal design â€"

This is the FAQ forum available here, I post this because I didn’t even know it was here.  It is a really great resource to use.  I’ve learned a lot here in only two days. â€"

this is the Arons DIY FAQ  It is a great place if you have no idea where to start.  I printed it out, it is quite helpful.

This is a really great explanation I found on google for how a transistor works, it is very helpful if you want to know how they work and why they work this way.  If you browse the site they give explanations for many other electronic devices caps, resistors etc.

I forgot to post this very valuable piece of information.  I've read this thing at least 10 times, I suggest all newb's d othe same, or at least until you understand it.  if you find yourself struggling then take a break study some other pieces of info and get back to it.

I've been having trouble with impendance which leads me to believe I'm not the only one, I'll keep all of the newbies updated on my impendance resources.  I so far am using this one:

and:

these are really great links for newbies.

It's true.  What goes around come around.  Thanks, Mr. 808.  Your fellow newbies will appreciate this.  Maybe not today.  Maybe not tomorrow.  But soon, and for the rest of their lives.

Maybe somewhere else it's all about the benjamins.  here, it's all about the growth.

I read this post a while ago, and it helped me to get at least a general idea of what impedance is about. (see niftydog's next to last post)

Anyway, thanks for the links. I'm a noob as well, and I'm trying to slowly but surely put the pieces together and hopefully (one day) design some original schematiccs.

tht was an excellent explnation on impendance.  'll continue updating this thread as I get more info, nd hopefully n e noobs that know of any info I haven't posted can do the same.  Hopefully we can pull off a "blind leading the blind" thing successfully enough so that we don't have to bother the big dogs.  good luck all. :)

AFAIC, the two newbie "bibles" should be the two Anderton books, Electronic Projects for Musicians, and DIY Projects for Guitarists.  Especially the latter, I was just at the library today and skimmed through it - almost every single project is useful from a design/learning standpoint.  Buy both and you'll always have a handy reference by your workspace!

I plan on purchasing both of those books!  I turn 18 on the may 19, so I'm opening my checking account, I can then begin purchasing all of the materials I need.
