Anyone ever made a "Wolfbagger"? Mine's kaput.

It's all wired up and I've gone through the board with a sewing needle, scratching anywhere and everywhere to get rid of unwanted bridges, but still no luck. I ran some music from my phone through the pedal out to my testing amp, but I either got a clean signal unaffected by any of the controls, nothing at all (if the input and output jacks were moved a certain way), or a piercing oscillation noise if I prodded the circuit at certain spots. My audio probe didn't find any useful signal either.

Here are my voltages:

IC1               IC2
---------   |      --------
1- 4.34    |     1- 4.39
2- 4.34    |     2- 4.39
3- 4.18    |     3-4.18
4- 8.79    |     4- 8.79
5- 4.38    |     5- 4.47
6- 4.40    |     6- 2.74
7- 4.40    |     7- 6.94
8- 7.52    |     8- 4.47
9- 3.19    |     9- 4.39
10- 3.99  |    10- 4.39
11- 0      |    11- 0
12- 4.29  |    12- 4.52
13- 3.75  |    13- 4.39
14- 4.39  |    14- 4.39~4.40

S-  4.52~5.53
G- 3.74

Q2

S- 4.39
G- 3.50

I've been trying to build a bit-crusher for a while now. My DBA Robot never made a sound, my Catalinbread Heliotrope had a loud oscillation noise, and my Escobedo PWM just wasn't the sound I was looking for. This Wolfbagger was my last hope before experimenting with digital effects, which I know absolutely nothing about.  :icon_confused:

Sorry I'm not being helpful, but I couldn't resist.

This is what we in Idaho call a "Wolfbagger":

...and mine isn't broken ;)

I have built the Wolf Bagger and had a few problems with it at first.
It was built on vero though... You can read more about it here:

Hopefully you can pick up something helpful from that thread anyway. :)

I'll try fiddling with the knobs to see if I can get a useful signal. If not, I can try replacing the pots with trimmers like you suggested. I've never seen trimpots with 4 leads and so many turns, though. Not sure how I would put them on my board (I'm using the PCB listed in the project file).

BTW, are you related to Dennis Lyxzén? It's just too much of a coincidence, considering you grew up in Umeå as well.

You could put the trimpots on small pieces of vero perhaps?
It's these kind of multiturn trimmers i'm using:
http://www.taydaelectronics.com/100-ohm-trimmer-cermet-potentiometer-25-turns-3296w.html
They are only 3 leads like any potentiometer. But regular trimpots would do fine aswell, just harder to do fine adjustments.

Heh, I get that question alot.. yes, he's my brother.

If you can't get the Wolf Bagger to work, I really recommend the Carlin Ringmod:

Just watched your video of the Carlin Ringmod, I think I'll give it a try. Wolfbagger gave me some bitcrush tones for a SECOND, but I lost the signal.

Thats cool, you've got a bit of a Thom Yorke- Andy Yorke thing going on with your brother. Love your studio, I've always wanted a reel-to-reel of my own.
