at http://www.blueguitar.org? I'm wondering how that one works (if it sounds good and is useable)...

I haven't built it.

However, that particular wah is an RC active filter implementation; you can sub in an opamp for the tubes. As such, it's my impression that any tube-iness is not going to be prominent.

In fact, that circuit was one of the motivations I had for designing the tube wah pedal at GEO. It's the stock single active device with follower design of the vox and all its ilk, where we know the device quirks show through.

Several people have built the GEO tube wah and liked it very much.

As with all effects, your own mileage may vary.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

Thanks RG, that has satifisfied my curiousity. I was definitely leaning towards the GEO tube wah, if I ever build a tube wah. The tube wah presents its own set of challenges in and of itself...  8)
