My latest build: modified Matchless Hotbox

holy... something..

that graphics looks f**king... something!

did you etch everything except the graphic or did you construct it out of metal? awesome... :D
Blood, Sweat & Flux. Pedals made with lasers and real wires!

I think it's a Decal but, I must say, the graphics are very cool  :icon_cool:
I like it!!

Here are a few shots of my Crybaby conversion - not really a build, this was my very first venture into modifying and making pedals.

I've put in a Banzai Halo inductor, true-bypass switching, and this led which changes colour from red to green to blue to red to.....

I think that I need to have the case powdercoated in some mad colour - black is dull.

Fatwah?  Pun intended?

brian smoke

Of course. - It does sound fat - I'd reccomend anyone putting one of those inductors into their pead.

I was more refering to the jihad connotations, heh.

Yeah, so was I.  I'd like to sell one to Salman Rushdie - he probably doesn't play guitar in hiding.

Let me also give a knod to MarkM for the inspiration.  And while I'm at it...Glenn Danzig after all I stole the design from the misfits (just elongated it a bit cause the enclosure is narrow).  I need to clean the enclosure up a bit as you can still see my reference lines for drilling.  In case you're wondering yes, it's sitting atop a Dunkin Donuts box.

By the way, it's another Smalley boost but I added a toggle to switch input caps.  Thanks to those that helped with that mod...my first one.
I love the misfits :D

Update on my tone machine;

Here is some pictures of the booster project I am building from this forum;

Aged it myself with some scisors before it goes for a final clear coat. I used matt paint, and I quite like how it looks at the moment so I might just leave it.

The holes are now for 'decoration' the enclosure was originally going to be used for the Foxx tone machine;

And the booster only has one knob so I drilled another two to make it look like a corner decoration thing! There is a footswitch that isn't being used so I might eventually find something to do with it.

Why'd you give up on the Tone Machine?

Tnx man, graphic is done with silver self-adhesive vinyl. There's shop here that does custom vinyl graphics and it's very cheap and easy to do things like this. I use it for all pedals, guitar headstock labels, etc...

I didn't, it needed a bigger enclosure (I had the circuit board mounted so everything wouldnt fit in)

See my post above the booster for pics of the finished tone machine :)

I officially want to build a stompbox with a VU meter in it now.

wow i thout of that too but wasun sure how to do it as i have little practical skill but it just lookes soooooooooo cool
easyface,phase 90,many fuzz faces,feedback looper,tremulus lune and so on soon to be ADA!

Hiwatt25

Agreed, is there potentially a "VU Meter" tutorial in the works?  You can't beat that for pure curb appeal.  I've seen guys do that with amps too and I think it looks so cool.  Hell, I don't even care if it's practical.

Only took three builds to get this one right:

The meter on the fuzzLab series stuff is purely for voltage. You can use it to show transistor bias or overall voltage sag--usually there is some kind of pot in the circuit that actually adjusts said voltage.

Other than that, it is just curb appeal :)
