Light shield was the hardest part.

That light shield is awesome!

Funny you should say that, since it has now been replaced.

See, there is an error in the Forum-Vibe build documents, two resistors swapped (R48 and R49) on the populated board diagram.  In my case at least, it limited the available depth of the effect, and had me pulling the guts out twice to make various improvements, including the light shield.  Now that I have those resistors corrected it works much better, but I'm leaving the second light shield in place.  It's much lighter and more like the originals.

Fair enough, I ended up with the same kinda dimensions for mine.
Tried two different box dimensions, and the lower ceiling one had a darker, chewier thing happening, so went with that.

That looks awesome!  Your own layout?

I'm still futzing with the trimmers, so touchy and interactive you almost have to hit the sweet spot by accident.  I had that sweet liquidy thing happening in my first two configurations, but with the depth lacking because of the resistor error.  If I can't dial it in as it is now, I may end up going back to the copper light shield, only because it's bigger and allows more options with photocell mounting.

Like I said before, this is my first Univibe.  I have avoided it until now because I knew it was going to be a pain.  But I'm really close.

It's a Neovibe, so layout is from R.G Keen, I just got the pcb done locally.
I'm not setup to do etching and precise drilling here. Was pretty pricey even for that un-texted, unmasked card.
But I got 2 pcb's from that, so there's still one in the drawer, waiting to create that sweet throb.

It is a righteous pain, but so worth it. Keep rockin' till you get "that" sound.

That looks great! So clean inside and out, nice enclosure.

Hi Temol,

just stumbled across this one here. May I ask where you got the enclosure? Regarding your previous pics here I'm not entirely sure if you "copy" John Lyons or my builds, "copying" John Lyons. :D ;)

Kind regards,
Helge (from fsb ;-))

Servus Helge! :)

You do not have to ask.. you are my main source of inspiration :) :)
As for the enclosures - it's my work, 100% DIY.

Hi Temol,

that's too much of an honour - your work is way more neatly done!
Stunning job with the self bend enclosures. I assume you have access to a laser cutter for this and the face plates?

Regards,
Helge

Sure - once you're hooked, you're hooked! But it is like it is with boozin' around with friends - you can't do that that often anymore with age. :D

I'm seriously writing this from the Kennedy Space Center right now!  :icon_lol:

It's hot here in Florida, by the way.

Nope... Just a combination square, fine tip marker, a file or two, a hacksaw, sheet metal bender and lots of patience :)
Faceplate - it's etched pcb.

You are welcome to drop by if you have time!

I am about a mile from the exit that takes you back to Orlando, assuming that is where you are staying.

By the way, there is a rocket launch Saturday morning at 8:00am!

Next time.   :icon_wink:  The timing is wrong for this trip.  We are visiting my mom (in Sebring) and my brother (in Ft. Lauderdale) and towing two small kids who have been very vocally disapproving of any additional detours.  :icon_rolleyes:

No worries man!  The offer always stands.. (as well as for my other DIY brothers).  Hope you enjoyed KSC -- it has turned out to be a nice attraction in recent years.  I love living in this area...  MC

I hijacked the pics thread without posting a pic.  :icon_redface:

Here is the best view I could get of tomorrow's launch.  The rocket is laying down, with the nose barely visible behind the trees under that street lamp.

And this sign was the weirdest thing I saw all day.

I've been to the Kennedy space centre. Had a wonderful day in a plastic space centre poncho in the pouring rain. You know what it's like in Florida one minute it's too sunny for a pastime POM, next minute it's a near hurricane.
Still got the spaceman food pouches to prove it.

Finally succeeded to make it work: Sea Machine / Gravity Wave Chorus.

I misplaced one capacitor while designing my PCB, and installed one 10k instead of 100k resistor, but now everything works fine.
