How Often to Re-Cap?

I don't think faulty power supply caps cause lower power output.

First thing to do, as with stompboxes, is to measure the plate, gate and cathode voltages. I advise you to do some research before doing it. Go to www.ax84.com and FIRST READ THE HIGH-VOLTAGE WARNING. Then go to the Discussion Forum and post the problem over there, see what the pros tell you.
