ZTX 320 use in rocket

Hey,

I'm building a rocket fuzz from GGG and I came accross some ZTX 320 NPN silicon transistors in my box of components, can't find much info on them that I can understand, just wondering if these can be used in this circuit or should I buy some 2N5089 for it?

It's intended for high frequency operation (VHF and UHF) but should work. The main consideration is that it has a low operating voltage - 15V maximum. They're also comparatively low gain, which is probably a benefit for a distortion unit.

OK, I've decided to build a small stratoblaster too so I need to order more parts anyhow so I think I'll get some 5089's,

still gonna try the ZTX 320's just to see what it's like, you never know it might be cool.

Will post how it goes when I finally get it up and running.

the rocket or 3 tran will take almost any Si NPN small signal transistor and bias right up.  Try what you have it should work

Yea I've socketed the transistors, so will give different ones a try in different places.

Cool, just wanted to make sure it wouldn't do any damage or anything if I use them, I know of so very little of these things.

OK, I just finished my rocket pedal (except for artwork, but meh) and it sounds good.

I tried the ZTX320's, it seems they work pretty well as Q2 and Q3, but it creates a horrific screatching sound if you place one as Q1, it's a horrible, horrible noise. They sound a bit softer than the 2N5089's I'm using, but they don't appear to have as much grunt behind them, so I stuck with 5089's for all transistors. Sounds really cool, check my thread on it:
