Is this some sort of Indian subsidiary of Boss or a complete ripoff?

It looks like it's a ripoff. The company is called Hitone Boss, and even the Hitone logo looks like it's trying to look like the Boss "B" logo. I'll guess that the copyright laws in India are a bit more lax, and it's possible that Boss isn't distributed there, so....

It's a big planet....
