I've been wanting to make my own guitar cables but I don't know what kind of wire I need to buy, or where I can buy it for that matter. Froogle only gives results for premade cables from Monster Cable, Guitar Center, etc. Any pointers?

I love the smell of solder in the morning.

I've used Klotz "La Grange", cable for a while now, with switchcraft jacks.
George L is also a good cable.

If you like anorak style analysis, here's a link to a review with some measurements.
Personaly, I don't think these translate *absolutely* to real world findings.

I like the Van Damm instrument stuff, but it's expensive, along with Neutrik NP2 type plugs.. which never seem to break.
