hi, after much delaying, and careful reading of the various shaka tube threads, i have one finished and plugged in. alas it's not quite working yet, just passing a little squirt of signal before cutting out, as well as some powerful hum.
i am using a 300ma supply putting out 12.8vac, which i know is lower than recommended..............i just wanted to see if the thing powered up. i'm hoping it's just the inadequate rating of the power supply that would make it do this. anyone?

aron

It's really hard to tell until you use the correct power supply. Then you need to do measurements.

I used a 13VAC 800mA wall wart for mine. That seems to work out just right. As far as the hum goes, check all of your grounds and keep your transformer away from the rest of the circuitry, or you will get induced hum in your signal path - a wall wart is recommended to avoid that.

yes it sounds like you need to check your grounds .... it'll hum like crazy if a ground connection is missing

Keep at it, it's a great pedal well worth the effort
