Hi,
I was folowing the circuit (or trying to) of my FAB chorus... when I hit this HEF4053bt .....erm...what is it?
The phillips site says "The HEF4053B is a triple 2-channel analogue multiplexer/demultiplexer"

Great.... anyone wanna explain what a multiplexer is? ???

Thanks....hey, I'm VERY analogue.....!

Its an electronic SPDT switch. You have 1 input for the control (which pole to throw) and 1 input/output and 2 outputs/inputs.
Theres probably 3 of these in 1 chip. Then theres muxes with more channels too.

Thats great you're tracing that one out.  Was that chip in question on the board with the 1/4" jacks and DC jack?  If so, that board is the same for all the fab pedals, they handle the electronic bypass switching (using a 4013/4053 combo), and power filtering.  The actual effect is contained on the little board with the pots.

Heres an article I recommend a lot on electronic switching with these chips:

Yeah, I got sucked in at first glance with that switch.

Actually, I dont like it that much. Lotsa chorus. Very sterile. For me, not so inspiring... started to poke around (SMD) outta curiosity

It appears that all the 'magic' is happening with IC ES 56028 s ... again cannot find info on this...
Closest I can come up with are some digital Echo chips...
