LOWER OR HIGHER VALUE??
« on: December 13, 2006, 01:34:41 AM »
Sometimes we dont have certain value of parts, or there s no store around us who sell some parts..for example : resistor 510 K, 41 K, or capacitor 0.003, 0.004 etc...how to replace them...with higher value or lower value? 510 K --> 560 k ?? or..470 K??? how about the sound?

I hope u understand my question... :icon_biggrin:

peace...

It all depends, doesn't it, on where the component is and what it does in that particular device.

In general the stuff we do around here is not all that critical and anything within 10% will be fine. Some component values are completely unimportant and you can use damn near anything in there.

In general find your nearest match and go with it. Subbing a 470K or 560K instead of a 510K wouldn't bother me at all. As for capacitors, just go with the nearest standard size.
