I'm all for it. Is this something that might happen before Nov. 1st? Otherwise I'll be on a long needed 6 week vacation and would miss it.

This is great! I've just started with circuit bending - about as simple as it gets. I'm still waiting for a kit I've got on back order from paia.com. Such a good idea.

Count me in.

ok looking through your ther posts i can see that the solder-a-thon has already happened. poo. so i will have to use your page on how to do it. but i have one major problem... i cannot find this transistor anywhere, well not in maplins catalog, sooooo my question is, is there a substitute part for the transistor?

thanks

Go to any electronics place and ask for any small signal NPN transistor.

They will work. 2N5088, 2N5089, 2N3904, 2N2222

any transistor on this page that says small signal transistor:

BTW: it should cost anywhere from about 10 cents to 1 dollar (USD).

GOOD LUCK!

ok thanks :). i am a little confused about the hookup wire though... do you use stranded or the solid core type?

thanks

blabj :)

You can use any type of hookup wire.

Here's the basics:

stranded can handle flexing and will not break as easily.

solid core will bend and stay bent and is good for placement in a box when you want it to stay put. Solid core WILL break and easily if bent enough times.

pre-tinned wire from Small Bear is excellent and exhibits properties from both types of wire. It stays in place and can flex better than solid core.

I use stranded or pre-tinned. That reminds me, I need more pre-tinned from Small Bear.

ok thanks but i cant get it from small bear because to ship a metre of wire to england costs £10 (ok slight exageration :) ) but i am definately making it!  :D

It would be great if you could show some of us how to build a simple box. I think the NPN Booster would be great.

Thanks

this thread is actually almost 3 years old.
the tutorials for the npn booster is already up on beginner project thread.
they are labelled as 1. tools, 2. schematic and parts list.........
gd luck.
