Pot's confusion ...

I need some help with pot's. I just wanna know what mean the letter behind the value .... in some cases mean:

A=log.
B=lin

but in other

A=lin.
B=log.

Now i'm confused !!!

This coding is more conventional, I call it the Japanese system.

Some manufacturers (mainly western contries) make up there own codes and often these conflict with other manufacturers - all this does is create problems.  That aside I have seen pots incorrectly marked in the shops as well, usually the ones that have a sicker on them instead of the pressed metal markings.

The best way to be sure is measure it.  Set the pot to half-way (as accurately as possible) then measure the resistance from the wiper to the clockwise lug and again from the wiper to the counter clockwise lug.  For a linear pot the two measurements will be about the same.  For a 10% log the counter clockwise lug measurement will be 9 times the clockwise lug measurent (for a 20% log you will get 4 times).
