Hiwatt25

I can say thank you but that's about it.

I'd like to put my name on the list if you're suggesting a mass order (provided the translation works out and the tranny's are indeed of some value)

vanessa

Why would you need to put in a mass order? I posted that site as a reference, I'm sure there are hundreds of Chinese parts distributors out of Hong Kong that would be happy to help out the DIY hobbyist with Chinese equivalents. Man the search engines all! (And brush up on your Chinese?) :icon_wink:

The link is provided via Google Translator.

A near endless supply possibly? Here's one site that shows a cross reference for NKT's. Does anyone speak-a-da Chinese?  :icon_wink:

I actually know a few people who speak chinese.    :icon_twisted:  I may have to try this out...

Google's doing the translating. For now.

I have a friend who is from Hong Kong.  If this is worthwhile, he can translate.  Let me know, I'd be in.

Its got to be worth looking into, I'd be looking to get some bits if there was a forum wide huge order getting placed

RaceDriver205

Yeah, I'd just be worried about them fallng apart ;D

Chinese quality... you know...

mac
mac@mac-pc:~$ sudo apt install ECC83 EL84
no such packages, but you can install "Quad Cortex", "Helix" or "Kemper" instead.

I've found that Chinese quality is quite good - if you are buying things made for good quality. If you're buying from China as cheaply as you can possibly get something, you get things that are just about as cheaply made as possible. If you're willing to pay a reasonable price for quality and work at getting it, you can.

You notice that the companies that bring in poor quality stuff tend to be non-Chinese companies that are competing on price, right?

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

I live in China and regularly use the 3AX31C (PNP) and 3BX31C (NPN) Ge transistors. They've worked well so far for Fuzz Faces, Rangemasters, and most recently the Creampie. Ge trannies aren't that hard to find here, but most sellers don't have any idea what they are or why anyone would want them. Lacking datasheets and cross-reference guides, I bought about 20 different types before settling on the 3A(B)X31Cs. I think I pay 1RMB (US$.13) each, pre-sorted into 50-80Hfe and 80-120Hfe bins.

Compared to what? British quality of forty years ago. I'll take my chances with the Chinese stuff.

The cross reference for NKT-275's = 3AX85A

I'm sure that's close to OC44's etc.

They are probably very cheap. They don't understand why you would want them because everyone over there must think they suck, much the same as the western world thought about them circa 1979... Germanium's that is...

Chinese stuff for the most part is of the best quality for the price that's out there. I would say that I would feel 98% better buying 100 Chinese transistors not having ever tried them before than I would anything else.  :icon_wink:

+1 on that and Brit = Jap of 40 years ago BTW

That Google translator is just TOO good sometime... chasing those transistors, I got:
