i built my OS (from tonepad) and used a 1N4001 diode from radioshack.  it compressed, but was a little wierd and pretty dirty when cranked...so i found a electronics repair place that said they had a 1N100 and 1N34A diodes, i went there and they were labeled 109 and 110, but they look germanium (you know, with the glass and stuff...).  so i switched out a 1N4001 for a 109 and it sounds about the same.
anyone had any experience with these 109 or 110 diodes?  can you point me in the right direction for tweaking my OS to work the way it should?

Thanks!

My suggestion would be to purchase some diodes from Aron, right here at his store.
He has 1N34a Ge diodes that function perfectly in the O/S.
That way, you're getting the part that'll work correctly in your project and you'll help support this Forum at the same time and feel real good about BOTH!
