You can get around that by holding it farther away from the pickup. I can go from fairly quiet and subdued to very loud and intense within a 1-1/2" space between the bridge and neck pickups. It's also fun to use vibrato and you can even do string bending by tilting the Ebow a little bit. It's so much fun!  :o

EDIT: Hey, FP, which version of the LM386 did you use?

I just got my black Ebow today. It has the four magnets in the same places as my PlusEbow, and of course, no harmonic mode. Just thought I'd pass it on for the record...
