Breg Sweep Wah (or, why I love my dentist...)

I've had this thing for a while, and like Mark's TriOct, this is one of only two that I've ever seen.

So a couple of weeks ago, I'm chewing on something, and BANG, one of my fillings self destructs. Call the dentist, make an appointment, I'm in the chair for three hours. It's a new clinic, the dentist seems young, but she's really good. Great sense of humor. I decide to pop the question... "Hey doc, you think you could x-ray something for me?"

"Sure...", she replies, "sounds like fun."

So, I've been taking some readings, and this is what I see so far...

Any ideas??????? It's a fuzz wah, and yeah, that's a triple gang pot. Weird ass values too, but rolling through the sweep, they all seem to be linear according to my DMM.

I'll start cleaning it up and make a proper schematic, but I thought I would let you guys chew on it for now. Pardon the pun.

Very enterprising, bringing your wah along to the dentist...   ;)  Hoping to plug in and jam some boom-chicka-wah wah?

A triple-gang pot?  Sounds like a serious design flaw to me.   :icon_wink:

It was the way that Dino had it tucked into his cheek on the other side of his mouth that was so clever!  I'm more impressed with the way his dentist could still make out what he was saying with a mouth full of pedal.  :icon_mrgreen:

That gift to dentists, is what being able to read what doctors scrawl on a prescription is to pharmacists.

Luckily, I did need to jam the whole pedal into my mouth, just the board, which was manageable. Tooth is fine by the way, but the cheek's still a bit sore.

three hours? my dentist tells me there is whole generations of people (younger than me) that don't need dentists, except for their yearly clean or emergency sports injuries.

I suppose I could do this myself at work since I work on portables and C-arms x-ray machines. Woman I work with, x-rayed her husbands hand with the c-arm since he had a motorcycle accident some time ago and was still having pain in his hand.

Floor-mat at the front entrance to my former place of employment. Oh... the irony.

Well, this is what I've got so far. Not quite sure what I'm looking at though. Nothing here that looks like anything I've seen before. Then again, it could be the way I'm tracing it out too. :icon_rolleyes:

Looking at it some more today, I noticed a couple of errors. Here's the updated schematic.

Any chance you could change the triple-gang pot for three LDR's and sort out a Morley opto-treadle thing instead?

First things first, I need to get this on the breadboard and sort out the values. The values I have in the image are direct readings, but since I can't unsolder anything, I have to start plugging stuff in and measuring to validate what's there.

Once that's done, I'll tackle the pots. At the moment, I have a couple of projects on the bench that need to get finished first, but I have reached out to a couple of companies that do modular pots for a custom order price. The values in the unit are not off the shelf values for sure, but one place I reached out to does have 25K, 75K, and 100K as stock values. If the price of a custom modular isn't too high, maybe I'll go for that, and then just tweak the values with resistors. If that doesn't work out, then yes, LED/LDR's will be the backup plan. Heck, we did it for the Talking Pedal with two, why not this with three! ;D
