ive been planning on making a small amp, like a noisy cricket or other mini small watt amps
but im not really well versed in amp making so i have a few questions
the noisy cricket is the preamp ryt? so i just need to plug the out to a speaker cabinet?
how do i make a cabinet for the preamp? what i know is that a speaker has 2 lugs, what do i do with those? do i have to provide power to the cabinet/speakers? how do i wire noisy cricket to the speaker? sorry for the many questions.. i just dont have enough knowledge on this, but i really want to make one, i also tried searching, but i cant seem to find any answers

listen
the speaker has 2 lugs
+ and -
the + goes to the "output" point on the board (on the circuit)
the - goes to the ground of the circuit

the noisycricket is a preamp+power amp
its 2 in 1 ^^
you build it and connect it to a speaker and you got an amp to practice with
you dont have to provide any power to the speaker

Good advice Dano12 gave me: get a JRC386 if you can, its better than the LM386. Also there are four versions, N1, N2, N3 and N4. N1 is a third of a watt, N4 is one watt. So get a JRC386/N4 if you can.

As above - use an N4

hmm i doubt that my local electronics shop has those, could i use any type of audio amplifier ic? because i think they have a lm838 which is described as an 8watt audio power amplifier, could i use this?

frequencycentral

LM838 - that would be a completely different schematic I'm guessing. I did a quick Google on LM838 and didn't come up with anything.

You can always build it with what you've got and just swap out the chips if/when you get a JRC N4 - assuming you socket the I.C. - which you should.
