I've built a bassballs for a friend.

But it doesn't work!!

I tried to replace transistors and ics, check component values and the solder side but everything seem to be ok!

I measured voltages but can't say if they are good or wrong. I post here and hope someone could help me spotting the problem.

I used this schematic         http://topopiccione.atspace.com/pjimages/EHBassBalls.sch.gif

IC1

1: 8.10
2: 6.06
3: 0
4: 0
5: 3.47
6: 4.34
7: 4.34
8: 8.69

IC2

1: 4.34
2: 4.34
3: 4.24
4: 0
5: 4.24
6: 4.34
7: 4.34
8: 8.69

Q1:

C: 8.68
B: 7.62
E: 7.02

Q2

C: 0
B: 0.60
E: 0

Q3

C: 0
B: 0.64
E: 0

Pins 1 and 2 of U1 should have the same voltage reading and be close to Vb.

I'll measure the voltages of mine (I happen to have one on the breadboard) and post them shortly.

EDIT:

Here are the voltages.

U1: 1458
1: 4.57
2: 4.57
3: 4.47
4: 0
5: 0
6: 1.96
7: 2.16
8: 9.10

U2: 4558
1: 4.51
2: 4.58
3: 4.57
4: 0
5: 4.57
6: 4.58
7: 4.51
8: 9.10

Q1: 2N5089
C: 9.1
B: 1.78
E: 1.19

Q2: 2N5089
C: 0
B: .424
E: 0

Q2: 2N5089
C: 0
B: .522
E: 0

The base pins of Q2 and Q3 will vary depending on their respective trimpot settings.

Something's wrong there.  In particular, something is wrong with Q1 and IC1.  Check for solder bridges or something similar around those 2.

Brian,

many thanks for posting your voltages.

I'll check more accurately and hope i will find the problem.
