Nuts for Neutriks - where? what?

I have a patch bay I picked up cheap as a source of phone jacks.  96 black and grey Neutrik stereo jacks for $20.  Trouble is that not all of them came with the plastic nuts to secure them to a chassis (not sure why, either).  A place near me used to carry them, but is completely out and doesn't expect to get more.

Two questions:  Any idea what can substitute?  Doesn't have to be plastic or the same colour.  And where might I get the aforementioned item?

Thanks.  That's the one.  Now if I can only figure out some way to justify spending $20 on shipping for $7 worth of nuts. ::)

If you can find if the treads are metrics, you could surely buy a box at Fabory Metrican.  There is an office in Toronto (And they have a big warehouse in Laval Qc ).  I didn't find the catalog online, but you could send them a phone call at the Toronto office.  They have standard nuts made of nylon that goes from M3 to M20.  Since it's nylon you could file them to desired tickness.  And for color : since it's nylon, you could dye them with fabric dye in hot water. (ex: Tintex).

Of course the real deal would be better...

You could also call at SpaeNaur also (office in Ontario):

Maybe someone would be kind enough to add them to their next order and mail them to Mark?

Mark,

You might try Ottawa Fasteners out in Bells Corners. They carry nylon nuts and bolts. My wife had picked me up long nylon 'nuts' 1/4" x 1-1/4" that I used as stand offs ...

Went there and was sorely disappointed.  So much hope, but no match.

Mark,

Sorry to hear that, did not mean to send you on a wild goose chase ...

You did nothing of the sort, Denis.  I asked the question because I had already been there and came up empty-handed.  Like you, I figured that if anyone in town would have them, THEY would.  But apparently we were both wrong.

I'll be passing through Toronto in late April.  I'll see what I can find there in the meantime.

Q:  Does Mouser do "pickup" orders, or does shipping still apply in those instances?

SonicVI

You can pickup up orders from Mouser's will call window, or at least you used to be able to. I did that sometimes when I lived near them.

If you're really not worried about the asthetic I'm sure you could find something in a size/thread that will work at your local hardware store.

Which was the basis of the exchange between myself and Scratch.  Unfortunately the very best screw/fastener place in my region came up short (and this is the sort of place where you can find Allen screws to fit just about any bridge saddle at whatever height you want).

Hi Mark,
Small Bear sells one they say fits the Russian BMP and Marshall jacks. Looks similar to the Neutrik nut posted earlier but who knows about the thread. Second to last item on this page. http://www.smallbearelec.com/Categories.bok?category=Plugs%2C+Jacks+and+Fittings&searchpath=276&start=41&total=52
