These are two little no-chip sinewave phototheremins I have built.  I call them Space Saucers!

They are really small, only 3x3 inches square.  The plastic bubble on top is from one of those coin-operated gumball/prize machines at the grocery store!

hahaaaaha soooooo cute!!!but what is their use?? :icon_biggrin:

Thanks !

The 1st ones are from 1993, each unit weights 25Kg. I would be unable now to find the required means and time to do that work... So it's from a forgotten era, I'm afraid. It's the same for my guitar amp projects, as displayed somewhere on the forum.

Basically it's a synth but yes you can use it to process (or destroy  :icon_mrgreen:) instrument sounds.

Mac Walker

Electric zither, inspired by the sound you get when strumming behind the nut.  For noise/drone/experimentation, whole lot of fun.  It can play up to six different tones...

The tuning machines are from elderly instruments.  Pins are 5mm in diam, drilled to 4.7 for a nice tight fit.  Have it set up for 12 string but only using six currently.  Of course you have to buy a tuning wrench as well....

jacobyjd

Only 6!? Use a SLIDE on that baby!

I love it!  :icon_biggrin:

VERY OT pictures...I got hold of a Gamecube those days, now it's very cheap to get both the console and the original games!
Actually just a few games are worth, Resident Evil is my all time fav, and I have been a huge Call of Duty player on PC, as Medal of Honor. Also the PS Metal Gear Solid was a good one. All of them have some Gamecube rendition. I guess those are the ones I will be buying in the next weeks...

Back to the console, I didn't want to leave it untouched, and I saw someone modded it easily...So that's what I did...
* Clear window on the top
* LED behind the fan
* Front and rear panel painted in black. violet and black seemed to be the only colors, so the front grey panel was outta place...

Next in line...Add some alluminium foil behind the fan, to spread the LED fan light better. Add LEDs in the front panel, right behind the controllers number indents (o.oo.ooo.oooo). Change the main LED to match the others.

Definitely try Metroid Prime (and then sequel Metroid Prime: Echoes), I mean it, this and the first Mafia on PC were two best video games I played ever! :) T.
Do you have a technical question? Please don't send private messages, use the FORUM!

Renegadrian

thx for the suggestion! now most of those original games can be bought for cheap thru ebay, I guess I can try that!

Philips Bakelite radio from 1937. Re-cap job and replaced all the wiring, as the insulation fell apart by looking at it. Other than that it was mostly cleaning. Oh and an open coil on the output transformer.

deadastronaut

^ i love those old bakelite radios...i was looking at one of them to gut and make a nice little amp out of....great!. :icon_cool:
