i have a pair of Matsushita 12ax7 tubes i may try in this pedal. has anyone tried these tubes in this tube driver? im looking for more versatility, when adjusting the gain i go from a very short cleanish section to massive overdrive, its not a gradual increase in breakup. i believe the gain pot to be good and not causing this...

don't know its the stock pot. seems wrong to change it to audio taper if its stock pot is linear though.

anchovie

The stock pot should be audio, would be worth checking.

I'm not sure changing the tube would make a huge difference in terms of distortion. That's provided by hitting the rails of the op-amp, the tube (running on a incredibly low plate voltage) is supposed to add a bit of "character" to this.

Check that pot, there might be a linear fitted in error.

its stamped A500k, any more ideas? i'm not sure if i can hear any difference in amount of distortion from say 1 o'clock to max. i suppose this could be typical of this pedal, i dont know...

Salvatore

The 910 was designed to be violent.
I suppose putting a 12au7 in there would tame it a bit, I heard some enthusiastic comments about that.

Other than that it's hard to say without the schematics.

lol, dont have the schematic.
